Don't use avastar to rig the meshes, use Blender's tools:
1. simply copy the weights from the body to your mesh:
- in object mode select the body and then the mesh and go to weight paint mode and from the toolbar (T key) select 'Tools' and 'Transfer Weights' (Vertex mapping option: use 'Nearest Face interpolated', and Source Layer Selection option: use 'By Name'). This will transfer all the vertex groups weights to the mesh.
2. Set the parent to the avatar:
- in object mode select the mesh then select the avatar skeleton (any bone is ok); then press Ctrl + P and select 'With Empty Groups' and you are done, the mesh is rigged to the skeleton.
3. Use avastar only to export the mesh into .collada format, menu File -> Export -> Collada (Avastar)
