Well. I'm entirely new to copybotting, been hesitant on it, but after some reading and such, I'm a bit more confident about it. Not entirely good at it and all, but I can extract textures that aren't BoM but on appliers at least as my first thing about it.

I have decent skills in modeling (I made a decent mesh body though no scripting) on Blender and rigging things from my time of creating my own mesh and such. 

No skills in scripting though. :< I need to learn that eventually.

I'm interested in testing things out such as rigged mesh and more textures.

When downloading Collada/Mesh files you must have, at minimum, a general understanding dealing with mesh items and 3D software like Blender, Avastar, or other programs. Collada/Mesh/DAE files are not beginner-friendly. First, you must have an account in Second Life that will allow you to upload Mesh files, see here -->

** Items that are XML or OXP you can simply upload them into the game via XML import or Linkset import (for .oxp files). (Beginner Friendly) All the textures will upload with the item.

You can host your content on the forum up to 10mb by using the attachment option in your post.

I am new to this as well. Mostly I just wanted to get a copy of my skin, which is only found in an applier, so that I can use it as a BOM layer, so that I can apply the BOM makeups and such (I know, such a girlie reason!)
