Just wanted to introduce myself. I am pretty much a beginner at everything, blender, sl, photoshop, etc. I was lead here following The Mighty Gingko youtube channel and her site after playing around with Avastar and the Hydra viewer. I also have a Patreon 3D comic book fetish site using mostly Daz Studio and some blender, photoshop, Indesign.

Hope, I'm doing this correctly. I was trying to view some threads that said I had to make a couple of posts first so here is my first one.

Follow this tutorial to learn how to CopyBot items in Second Life and post on the forum

When downloading Collada/Mesh files you must have, at minimum, a general understanding dealing with mesh items and 3D software like Blender, Avastar, or other programs. Collada/Mesh/DAE files are not beginner-friendly. First, you must have an account in Second Life that will allow you to upload Mesh files, see here -->

Two important tools you will need with mesh is

** Items that are XML or OXP you can simply upload them into the game via XML import or Linkset import (for .oxp files). (Beginner Friendly) All the textures will upload with the item.

You can host your content on the forum up to 10mb by using the attachment option in your post.

If your content is larger than 10mb use

Thanks for the welcome. I have a crazy question(s). I have been playing with the viewer and have recently used it to obtain some items to create a custom avatar (almost done), but I had to do a lot of work in Blender to make it exportable for upload to sl (at least I think I did), we're talking rigged body parts and stuff...

I watched that noob tut and it looks like you just scope out, snatch and upload to that other site (that goon squad site that looks like marketplace). Am I doing something wrong, or do raw copies go on that site (are they zipped), or are you supposed to fix them up before you upload them with the marketplace image?

Thanks and apologies for such a long winded noob question

The best way to learn is to have lots of patience and try and mistake.

As for the zipped files you talk about... theres a few stuff myself I downloaded on goonsquad and other sites and it doesnt upload at all for me. Your best bet is to get stuff directly from Second Life and use MeshSl to get rigged avatars or stuff. Lots of stuff upload correctly, some others need to be fixed whit blender. But its a bit of the same, theres a lot of stuff that wont work and will never upload at all whatever you do.

By example, there's that crysis Rigged avatar I wanted, but nothing worked at all even if I played whit MeshSl or blender.

I dont use Avastar anymore cause it barely work 5% of the time for me.

So, you'll get your own experience of the vast world of copybotting.

Thanks. That's pretty much what I was hoping to hear. I was using it today but sometimes things would work and sometimes things wouldn't. Mostly it works good If I want to alter demos or something that I am wearing but I couldn't get textures off of anyone, and no one stays still long enough for me to get my thoughts straight LOL
