Do i need to own something inorder to take it? For instance, if I can see the contents of something I don't own would I be able to take from in the folder? or is there any work-around for this?I'm using Hydra viewer.

You can only copy asset-like things from contents: textures, sounds, animations. Non-asset things like wearables, scripts, notecards or objects can not be copied this way as the simulator doesn't send their data to the viewer.
