hi! new to this sorta thing, trying to download some xml files off of here but i noticed every time they go into blender they appear the same (avatar body shape-looking thing, if you need a picture i can show it), am i doing something wrong or is there something i need to know about xml file importing into blender?

Hunny, you can't import xmls into blender that way
the blender/sl import is for shapes only
you use a copybot viewer to import items that as XML format.
