I just realized what it is that I dislike about this whole new wave of VR obsession. It’s those dreadful headsets. They look terrible, claustrophobic, antisocial, impossible to wear for any length of time. Whenever I see someone taking one off they remind me of coal miners emerging from a dark cave who are glad to finally see the light of day again, and breath the fresh air of reality. Surly VR will have a huge uphill struggle to become mainstream as long as this ugly anti human device is what it takes to experience it. It’s a shame that this whole new VR thing cannot be talked about in a reasonable way and recognized for the niche pastime that it is destined to be at the currant time, rather than hearing top “game” developers talking as if they have discovered the cure for all humanities ills, like drug addicts reeling from their first hit of Acid.
